KB86717: "Item with the given index is not found in method '%1" error appears when creating a new dossier or report in MicroStrategy Library and Web.

SYMPTOM:

When a user tries to create a new dossier or report with Strategy Library, Workstation or Web, the following error appears:
 

Item with the given index is not found in method '%1

The DSSErrors.log file contains several entries at the same time of the above error:
 

Object with ID '05B202B9999F4C1AB960DA6208CADF3D' and type 55 (Document Definition) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.

Fail to serialize the document JSON.

 

CAUSE:

ID '05B202B9999F4C1AB960DA6208CADF3D' corresponds to the Blank Report object, which is an out of the box object and should be present in every project. One possible cause of this issue is that the object is missing in the current project. 
 

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for further assistance. In order to track down the cause of the inconsistency, customers encountering this issue should make note of Schema-related changes, Object Migrations, or error messages prior to experiencing the problem. Change Journaling, if it has been enabled, can help in preserving this information. 
 

WORKAROUND:

Create a new project and perform a project merge between the new and faulty projects. The new project should contain the blank report object.
