KB10068: How to use a scroll bar to view an entire graph report on a single page in MicroStrategy Web

• Strategy

The key to creating a properly formatted graph report in Strategy Web is to build it using the advanced formatting features in Strategy Desktop. The default display for graph reports in Strategy Web is to split a graph into multiple pages. This document explains how to format a graph report so that it appears entirely on one page with a scroll bar, as shown below:

To fit an entire graph report on a single page in Strategy Web, perform the following steps:

  • Open a report in Strategy Developer.
  • If the report is not already in Graph view, from the View menu, select Graph View to display the report as a graph.
  • From the Graph menu, select Preferences to open this dialog box.
  • Increase the number of Categories in the Scrolling box from the Preferences dialog box under the General tab. This will control the amount of information displayed on a single page of a graph report. To include the entire report, increase the number of categories accordingly.
NOTE: At this point, the graph will appear compressed, as shown below:

  • To correct this compression, increase the number of pixels in the Web/HTML Document Display tab of the Preferences dialog box (as shown below). This setting allows users to expand the size of the graph:
  • Width: uses a number between 1 and 9999.
  • Height: uses a number between 1 and 9999.

The greater the number of categories, the greater the width should be when compared to height. The feature, "Lock aspect ratio...", maintains the proper ratio and can be changed in the General Tab. Execute the graph report in Strategy Web to ensure its appearance and then make the necessary changes until the graph report is properly formatted.
