Project sources could not be retrieved from Web Services: 'The request failed with HTTP status 405: Method not allowed.'. Do you want to connect to a different Web Services URL?
When launching the Strategy Office page (http://localhost/StrategyWS/MSTRWS.asmx), the scripting code appears as follows:

<%@ WebService Language="c#" Codebehind="MSTRWS.asmx.cs" Class="MSTRWS.MSTRWS" %>

CAUSE:
The ASPX and/or ASMX extension(s) is not properly configured for the Strategy Office virtual directory.

ACTION:
To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

  • Open the Internet Services Manager and right-click on the StrategyWS virtual directory.
  • Select 'Properties.'
  • In the Properties window, click on the 'Configuration' button.
  • Under the 'App mappings' tab, verify that the aspx and asmx extensions are configured. If they are not, add a mapping for the aspx and/or asmx extension that points to C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll The figure below is an example of configuring the extension ASMX:
