How to modify the Web User Session Idle time using MicroStrategy Command Manager

In certain instances, Strategy may be installed in an environment without the Strategy Developer interface. For example, an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) might resell Strategy as part of a larger deployment, for their clients only utilize the Strategy Web interface and Strategy Intelligence Server. In these scenarios, it's difficult to modify Strategy Intelligence Server configuration settings. However, this can be achieved through the Strategy Command Manager Application.

For example, to change the Web User Session Idle Time, search for the sample server configuration outline, by default, found in the following location:
Program Files\MicroStrategy\Administrator\Command Manager\Outlines\Server_Configuration_Outlines\Alter_Server_Config_Outline.otl

This outline can be used to modify any server configuration setting including Timeouts and Governing settings.

To modify the Web Idle Timeout, use the following script can (an abbreviated version of the above outline):

ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION WEBIDLETIME <number_of_seconds>;
where <number_of_seconds> should be replaced with the new number of seconds, without any additional quotation marks or delimiters.

For Example, if the desired Web User Session Idle time is 500 seconds, the script will be as follows:

ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION WEBIDLETIME 500;
