This procedure demonstrates how to change the preferences in MicroStrategy Developer to alter a report so that it can only be run in grid mode.

This procedure demonstrates how to change the preferences in Strategy Developer to alter a report so that it can only be run in grid mode. Once implemented, Graph mode and Grid/Graph mode will no longer be an option when viewing the report.

  • Run the report in grid mode.
  • Switch to graph mode. If the report has not yet been set up to use a particular graph type, any type may be selected:

  • From the file menu, select Graph > Preferences, as shown below:

  • Select Options > Graph Types
  • Uncheck the box labeled "Allow this report to be viewed as a graph."
  • Select the desired preference:
    • Apply only to Web
    • Apply only to Developer
    • Apply to both Developer and Web

  • Click OK. The report will change back to grid mode automatically at this point.
  • Save and close the report.

Now, when executing the report, the options for "Graph View" and "Grid Graph View" are grayed out, as illustrated in the following screenshot:

NOTE:  Once the changes have been made, you can still toggle the option but only through the quick switch button in the Desktop Editor highlighted below.  Set it to graph and you will have access to the Graph menu again.
