“Server Error in ‘/MicroStrategy’ Application...Parser Error: Could not load type 'ASPxMSTRWeb.xxxxxxx” error message appears when attempting to access a MicroStrategy Web project.

Symptom

When attempting to access a Strategy Web project, the following error message appears:

Server Error in '/Strategy' Application.
Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'ASPxMSTRWeb.customMstrWeb'.
Source Error: Line 1: <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireUp="false" Codebehind="customMstrWeb.aspx.vb" Inherits="ASPxMSTRWeb.customMstrWeb"%> Line 2: <%@ Register TagPrefix="web" Namespace="ASPxMSTRWeb.Tags" Assembly="ASPxMSTRWeb"%> Line 3: <html>
Source File: D:\Program Files\MicroStrategy\Web ASPx\asp\customPages\customMstrWeb.aspx Line: 1
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.573; ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.573

Cause

This issue occurs because a .vb file has been added to the Strategy Web Application.

For Strategy Web products that use the architecture with .NET Presentation Layer, updating aspx or ascx files is recognized immediately by Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS) without requiring any recompilation of files or restarting of the application in any way. However, if .vb files are added or updated, ASPxMSTRWeb.dll must be compiled.

Action

Recompile ASPxMSTRWeb.dll by opening a Command Prompt window and executing buildProject.bat in the C:\Program Files\MicroStrategy\Web ASPx folder.

NOTE: It is not necessary to re-start IIS, as IIS is aware when dll definitions are updated.
