However, when the Question Object should appear so that users can define their preferences, the following error message appears:

Error retrieving question object information from Strategy Narrowcast Server. Please contact your Administrator.
CAUSE:
One possible cause for this error is the presence of a firewall between the Strategy Narrowcast Server Subscription Engine machine and the Strategy Intelligence Server.

If users subscribe to a Service containing a report with prompts though the Portal, a question object will retrieve the prompt elements from the Strategy Intelligence Server. This provides users with the ability to set their preferences at the time of subscription.

If there is a firewall between these two servers and the communication port to the Strategy Intelligence Server is not open, the Subscription Engine is unable to communicate with the Strategy Intelligence Server thereby rendering the error message.

Another possible cause is that "localhost" is used as an Intelligence Server Machine Name in Information Source Module for the Service while Portal is configured in a different machine from the Intelligence Server machine and Narrowcast Server machine.

ACTION:
Ensure port 34952 (Intelligence server port) is opened in the firewall. Strategy Intelligence Server communicates with Strategy Narrowcast Server Subscription Engine by using port 34952 (unless the default port number has been changed in the Strategy Intelligence Server Configuration).

Change the Intelligence Server Machine Name from "localhost" to the actual machine name or IP Address.
