How to create a schedule that will idle and resume a project?

In Strategy, it is possible to automate a project idle or a project resume using a schedule. This document explains the steps to achieve this using Schedule Administration Tasks. Note that when using this functionality to idle a project, a Full Idle will be issued. For more information regarding idle modes, review the product manuals that come installed with the Strategy software.

The following are the steps to create a schedule to idle and resume a project:

  • Create two schedules: one to idle a project and the other to resume.
  • Open "Schedule Administration Tasks" (open a 3-tier project source, click on the Administration menu > Scheduling > Schedule Administration Tasks).
  • Choose a project under "Available Projects."
  • Choose "Idle Project" under "Choose one of the following actions."
  • Find the schedule to idle (created in step #1) and click the checkbox:

  • Choose "Resume Project" under "Choose one of the following actions."
  • Locate the schedule to resume (created in Step #1) and click on the checkbox, as shown below:

The project will now be idled and resumed when the corresponding schedules are launched.
