ODBC installation for the Teradata ODBC Driver version 3.04.xx.xx for Windows and UNIX:
General:
The Teradata ODBC driver has two pre-requisites for the 3.04.xx.xx ODBC driver to function:
To install for Windows, perform the following steps:
Installation for AIX:
Components:
TeraGss 64bit requires Teragss32, and TeraGss32 requires tdicu as a prerequisite. Therefore, the installation sequence for all 64-bit platforms is: Tdicu > teraGss32 > TeraGss > tdodbc.
While installing, it will ask for the installation directory, and it can be placed in any directory desired. However, the base installation files are created in /usr dir, and it will create links from the selected installation directory to the /usr directory.
Installation for Solaris:
Components:
TeraGss 64bit requires Teragss32, and TeraGss32 requires tdicu as prerequisite. Therefore, the installation sequence for all 64-bit platforms is: Tdicu > teraGss32 > TeraGss > tdodbc
A list of available software will appear, and each required component must be installed one by one. Follow the sequence described in the general section.
While installing, it will ask for the installation directory, and any directory can be selected. However, the base installation files are created in /usr dir, and it will create links from the selected installation directory to the /usr directory.
Installation for Linux:
The installation sequence for 32 bit Linux x86 is: Tdicu > teraGss32 > tdodbc
Note that only 32 bit Linux on xeon cpu is supported by NCR.
On Linux, it is not possible to choose the installation directory for the odbc software. It directly installs in /usr/odbc.
NOTE:
For Linux operating system, the dependent components (TeraGSS and tdicu) alongwith the Teradata ODBC driver (tdodbc) should be the 32-bit versions and not the 64-bit versions.
