KB11971: Caches still appear in the cache monitor even though administrative tasks have been setup to expire caches after a specific amount of time in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 9.x and later

Caches still appear in the cache monitor even though administrative tasks have been setup to expire caches after a specific amount of time in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server.

SYMPTOM:
When Administrators set an Administrative Task to expire caches, they notice that the caches still remain in the cache monitor.
When viewing the caches in more detail, the cache types are of the type "History." Expiring caches only affects those with a status of "Matching," which invalidates those that are of the status "Matching, History."

CAUSE:
The reason history caches are not deleted from the cache is because history list messages are referencing them. For more information regarding Cache Types and their Status, refer to the System Administration Guide that comes with the Strategy User Manuals.

ACTION:
History Caches will be removed from the Cache Monitor when either the History list messages are deleted or the Administrator manually deletes the cache.

The following Strategy Knowledge Base documents contain further information on caching:
