KB12428: How to configure the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server to automatically join a cluster upon manual start-up

On Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x, users should see the Intelligence Server automatically rejoin a cluster upon restart.
By default, the cluster will be re-joined automatically as long as the cluster node was not shut down normally (e.g., an abnormal shutdown due to errors or the process is killed). If the Strategy Intelligence Server is manually shut down however, (i.e. via Desktop, Service Manager, or a command window), then it will not automatically rejoin the cluster upon start up. To allow the server to rejoin the cluster even after a manual shutdown, the users can use the Intelligence Server setting "Select which servers are to reform the cluster at startup"
 
To manage which servers will automatically rejoin a cluster upon startup, complete the following steps on Strategy Desktop:
 

• Right-click on the project source and select Configure Strategy Intelligence Server, as shown below:
  

• Expand Clustering > General, as shown below:
  

• Select which servers currently in the cluster will automatically rejoin upon startup, as shown below:
  

• Restart all of the servers in the cluster to apply the changes.
