KB13200: What is the maximum number of nodes that can be supported in a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server cluster

What is the maximum number of nodes that can be supported in a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server cluster

Strategy 9.x to 10.3 has certified Strategy Intelligence Server clusters of up to four nodes.

  • Under high stress situations, report requests may time out because of disk contention when synchronizing caches.
  • The Read/Unread status flag is not synchronized across all nodes in the cluster. If a user retrieves an item from his History List and a failover occurs, the user may see an Unread flag for the item being retrieved.
  • Caches for reports that contain prompts within prompts may not be synchronized across all nodes in the cluster. If a failover occurs, executing such a report may not hit a cache on a different node.
  • Only affects customized Strategy Web 8.x pages: When using the KeepAsIsFlag in History List operations, some of the messages do not have a valid result. When retrieving the result, Strategy Web 8.x displays 'Result in status 0, expected status 1.'

NOTE:  In Strategy version 10.4 and later is when  Strategy Intelligence Server clusters with eight nodes is supported. For any problems or certification requests for configurations beyond the currently certified ones, contact Strategy Technical Support for assistance.
