KB13276: Why are more than two Job IDs recorded to the statistic table, IS_REP_SQL_STATS, for a single report execution in MicroStrategy Developer?

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

More than two job IDs are sometimes logged to one of the statistic tables, IS_REP_SQL_STATS, for a single report execution in MicroStrategy Developer.

SYMPTOM:
More than two job IDs are sometimes logged to one of the statistic tables, IS_REP_SQL_STATS, for a single report execution in Strategy Developer.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce this issue:

  1. Create a report with a prompt.
  2. Send the report to the history list
  3. Check the statistics table by running the following SQL. Notice there are multiple Job ID entries for the exact same timing.

    select count(*), STARTTIME, FINISHTIME from IS_REP_SQL_STATS A group by SQLPASSSEQUENCE, SERVERID, STARTTIME, FINISHTIME, EXECTIME, SQLSTATEMENT, SQLPASSTYPE, TOTALTABLEACCESSED, DBERRORMESSAGE having count(*) >1 order by 1;

CAUSE:
When a prompted report is sent to the history list, two jobs are created by Strategy Desktop 8.x while Strategy Web 8.x only creates one job. This creates discrepancies in reporting jobs in Strategy Enterprise Manager 8.x.
