‘Unable to generate complete results due to the memory governing limit for PDF. Partial results have been returned’ error occurs when executing a large Report Services document from MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 and above.

SYMPTOM:
When a user executes a large Report Services document from Strategy Web, the following error occurs:


Unable to generate complete results due to the memory governing limit for PDF. Partial results have been returned.

CAUSE:
This error occurs because the size of the Report Services document exceeds governing limitations set in the Strategy Intelligence Server configuration.

ACTION:
Right-click on the project source in Strategy Developer and select Configure Strategy Intelligence Server -> Governing -> File Generation -> PDF Generation -> and increase this value, as shown below:

NOTE: This value may impact Strategy Intelligence Server memory usage if set too high. It is advised that this setting be set with the environment in mind.
