KB13600: How to determine the current build version of the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server on the Windows platform

How to determine the current build version of the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server on the Windows platform

The version displayed in the DSSErrors.log and Strategy License Manager is the version of the base build installed in that machine. Unlike major releases and service packs, hotfixes and patches are differential updates of the product, meaning that only a few of the binaries are rebuilt and re-stamped with the hotfix or patch version. That said, DSSErrors.log may not always show the hotfix version.

The recommended way to determine the current version of Strategy Intelligence Server is by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Common Files/Strategy and Strategy/Intelligence Server folders
  2. Search for all the binary files (*.dll)
  3. Sort by modification time
  4. Right-click on the dlls whose modification date is different (more recent) from the rest and find out the build version.
