Community Admin

• Strategy

When formatting is applied to custom group element values, it also affects the formatting of individual item values in MicroStrategy Developer.

SYMPTOM:
The following four layers can be formatted in a custom group:

  1. Element header
  2. Element values
  3. Individual item's headers
  4. Individual item's values

Format applications have the following effects:

  • When element headers are formatted, it affects only the element header.
  • When individual item headers are formatted, it affects only the individual item header.
  • When individual item values are formatted, it affects only individual item values.
  • However, when element values are formatted, it also affects the individual item values.

For instance, if the element values are formatted to appear to be bold, then the individual item values are also displayed bold and are not displayed by their default settings.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x.

ACTION:
Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on the status of this issue.

WORK AROUND:
When formatting is applied to element values in a custom group, a user should also set the formatting on the individual item values explicitly for the individual items to have their own formatting.
