KB13712: How to delete attribute forms that are mapped to a Freeform SQL report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x - 10.x

This knowledge base article explain how to delete attribute forms that are mapped to a Freeform SQL report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x - 10.x

Attribute forms can be created in existing attributes and can be mapped to Freeform SQL reports in a project in Strategy Developer 9.x - 10.x. The attribute form that is mapped to the Freeform SQL report cannot be deleted in the attribute editor if the attribute form still has dependency on the freeform SQL report, as shown below:

In the image above, the 'Delete' button is grayed out, and thus the attribute form cannot be deleted. In order to delete the attribute form that is mapped to a Freeform SQL report, follow the steps below:

  • Open the attribute in the attribute editor and determine the source Freeform SQL reports for the attribute form. In the figure above, the source freeform SQL report is called 'FF Test.'
  • Remove the dependency to this Freeform SQL report and find the reports listed in the Source Report window, in this case FF Test.
  • Go to the Administration menu in Strategy Developer and select Projects -> 'Delete unused managed objects.' This will delete all the Freeform SQL objects that are no longer being used in the project.
  • In this case, since the Freeform SQL report FF Test has been deleted, it does not have dependency on the attribute form anymore. Deleting unused managed objects deleted the attribute form as well, as shown below:

In the image above, the attribute form 'N/A - Freeform SQL' does not exist anymore and has thus been successfully deleted.
