KB13946: What is the preferred sequence to upgrade a database server and MicroStrategy

What is the preferred sequence to upgrade a database server and MicroStrategy

Users often ask if there is any preferred sequence to upgrade Oracle and Strategy at the same time. They want to know whether the database or Strategy should be upgraded first.

There are no steps or sequence of steps that Strategy recommends when upgrading the database and Strategy version. Ensure that the upgraded database is certified with the new Strategy version and a certified driver is being used. Other than that, these two upgrades are unrelated. This applies to Strategy and any other database platform.

Information about certified and supported configurations can be found in the Strategy Product Suite Readme files. The Readme files can be found in the Strategy Knowledge Base or in the Product Manuals.

The Readme files can be found in the Strategy Knowledge Base by clicking 'Knowledge Base' -> 'Latest Release Information' in the left links. Then choose 'Product Readmes and Release Notes' in the contents section of the page and select the Readme file for the proper version.

In order to access the Readme through the Product Manual, simply go to Start -> Programs -> Strategy -> Product Manual and the link for the Readme file will be available.
