KB14153: How to create a new Server Definition using MicroStrategy Configuration Wizard in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 2021 and above

In order to create a new server definition on the Strategy Intelligence Server 2021 machine using Strategy Configuration Wizard, follow the steps below:

• If the Strategy Intelligence Server machine is running Microsoft Windows, go to Start -> Programs -> Strategy and select Configuration Wizard.
• If the Strategy Intelligence Server machine is running the UNIX operating system, start Strategy Control Center. From the Applications menu, select Strategy Configuration Wizard.
• From the Welcome page, select Set up Strategy Intelligence Server and click on Next.
• Select the ODBC DSN that points to the metadata database from the drop-down list and enter the Database User Name and Password, as shown below:
  

• Click on Next. Then, enter the Strategy Administrator User Name and Password and click on Next, as shown below:
  

• Select the radio button 'Create New Server Definition' and then enter the Server Definition Name in the box provided, as shown below:
  

• Click on Next. Now, enter the Port number used by the Strategy Intelligence Server and click on Next again.
• Select all the projects from the metadata that need to be loaded at startup on the Strategy Intelligence Server and click on Next, as shown below:
  

• Click Finish on the summary page. This will prompt to stop the Strategy Intelligence Server process in order to create the new Server Definition. Click on Yes.
• Once the server definition has been changed, Strategy Intelligence Server will start back up using the new server definition. This can be confirmed using the Strategy Service Manager, as shown below:
  

• The above image shows that the Server Definition is NEW_SVR_DEF, which is the one that was created above.
