SYMPTOM:
When executing Strategy reports to a PivotTable in Microsoft Excel, users may find that the words 'Sum of' are appended to the metric name in Strategy Office 9.x.

Below is a report in Strategy Web 9.x. Notice that the metric name is simply 'Cost', as shown below:

Below is the PivotTable run through Strategy Office 9.x. Notice that the metric name is now 'Sum of Cost', as shown below:

CAUSE:
This is working as designed, as the 'Sum Of' is a feature of the 'PivotTable Classic' format used by Microsoft Excel, which is the Strategy Office 9.x default.

ACTION:
The following are two methods to change the PivotTable format:

  • Changing the Strategy Office 9.x Default
Within the Strategy Office 9.x Options, choose General -> PivotTable -> Formatting, and select a different default PivotTable format, as shown below:

  • Changing the autoformat through Microsoft Excel
After the PivotTable is generated, choose Format -> Autoformat within the Microsoft Excel menu bar. The following window will appear:

  •
Choose a different Autoformat from the available selections. The metric name should now display without being prefixed by 'Sum Of', as shown below:
