SYMPTOM:
When a user runs an email service in Strategy Narrowcast Server 8.x and there is a firewall in between the Strategy Narrowcast Server and the SMTP Server, the email is not sent out. If the user enables Level tracing for the DELog files, the following error will be displayed:

Service ID Execution ID Segment ID Error transmitting to recipient - 85017:Communication timed out at host 192.168.10.11

If the user tries to send an email manually, the email is sent correctly. For more information on how to send an email manually, refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note:

KB11482 (KB6200-7XX-1240) - How to deliver an e-mail manually for SMTP troubleshooting purposes

CAUSE:
The port 25 is enabled for TCP and UDP. If the UDP port is disabled, the email is sent correctly.

ACTION:
Check that the SMTP port (25) is enabled. Then check if it is enabled for TCP and UDP, if so, disable the UDP one and try sending the email again.
