KB14421: Derived metrics do not display a description when hovered over in MicroStrategy Web

Derived metrics do not display a description when hovered over in MicroStrategy Web 9.x.

SYMPTOM:
When creating reports in Strategy Web 9.x users can hover over certain objects in the object browser for a description. This description can be added through Strategy Developer 9.x by modifying the object's properties, as shown below:
 
However, when creating a derived metric, no Description field exists, as shown below:
 
Thus, normal metrics can display a description when a user hovers over the object, as shown below:
 
However, derived metrics only display the Derived Metric name, as shown below:
 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Web 9.x.
 
ACTION:
Currently this issue is still being reviewed for feasibility by our Technology team and is not scoped for any upcoming scheduled Strategy release.
 
WORKAROUND:
A description can be typed for the derived metric name. However, the description will then display on the template as well as in the hover tooltip, as shown below:
