‘Error in layout `/WEB-INF/xml/layouts/ReportGridLayout.xml`:line27: Inside tag: Method…. invocation failure’ error occurs when executing reports in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 and above.

SYMPTOM:
When some specific reports in Strategy Web are executed, the following error occurs:

Error in layout `/WEB-INF/xml/layouts/ReportGridLayout.xml`:line27: Inside tag: Method invocation failure, caused by java.lang.IndexOutofBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0

At times, the end part of this error may be a little bit different and display as shown below:

Error in layout `/WEB-INF/xml/layouts/ReportGridLayout.xml`: line 27: Inside tag: Method invocation failure, caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid object ID

CAUSE:
Each Strategy project definition holds a table with enumeration for system folders mapped to the DSS IDs of these folders for each project. When one of the system folders (schema for example) gets deleted, the enumeration is not updated.
In the scenario presented above, a user deleted the system folder 'Transformations' that should be found under the 'Schema Objects' folder, as shown below:

ACTION:
To resolve this issue the metadata must be reupgraded. This will recreate the System Folder 'Transformations' and then re-map the DSS IDs in the enumeration table. Follow the steps in the upgrade guide product manual to do a full metadata upgrade to fix the issue:

NOTE: If the Transformations folder was deleted and then recreated manually, then before reupgrading the metadata, the user will want to delete the Transformations folder that they created so that that folder does not exist whatsoever.
