KB14846: ‘1607: Unable to install InstallShield scripting runtime’ error occurs when running setup.exe for installations

This KB addresses an issue with launching InstallShield during MicroStrategy installation.

SYMPTOM:
When attempting to run setup.exe in order to install Strategy products, the following error occurs:

1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.

 

CAUSE:
The Windows Installer service on the machine has a status of Disabled.
 
ACTION:
On the affected machine, enable the Windows Installer service from the Windows Services panel.
