When drilling across to a hierarchy on an attribute that exists in the hierarchy, the drill attributes are duplicated in MicroStrategy Web 9.x. This behavior does not occur in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x

SYMPTOM:
When drilling across to a hierarchy on an attribute that exists in the hierarchy, the drill attributes are duplicated in Strategy Web 9.x. This behavior does not occur in Strategy Developer 9.x

The following image shows a drill on a particular attribute in Strategy Developer 9.x. Note that the drill down items do not exist in the drill across items:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce this issue:

  1. Create a report in Strategy Developer with an attribute and a metric.
  2. Create a drill map with a drilling hierarchy. The drilling hierarchy must have the attribute on the report and at least one other related attribute in the across drill path.
  3. Associate the drill map to the attribute on the report.
  4. Execute the report in both Strategy Developer and Web and note the drilling behavior.

CAUSE:
The is working as designed, but is being investigated by Strategy.

ACTION:

Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
