KB42175: How to create thresholds for attribute elements in MicroStrategy.

In Strategy there is the option for using Thresholds for various metrics. This allows for custom formatting based on the values of the metric. The option for Thresholds on attribute elements is not currently available. There are two work arounds available to create similar functionality.

Custom Banding:
This will provide some functionality, but will not allow you to dynamically change the banding style based on the attribute element.

To enable Custom Banding in Strategy Developer:
1. In Report Editor, navigate to the Grid menu option in the upper toolbar.
2. Choose Options and the General tab.
3. There will be an option to enable Custom Banding and adjust its settings.

Custom Formatting:
This provides additional functionality but will require the Customer to write their own custom formatting. Examples can be found in the Advanced Reporting product manual.
1. In Report Editor, right-click the attribute to be formatted and choose Formatting, Values.
2. In Format Cells, choose Custom and the Customer can now input their own custom formatting rules here.
