SYMPTOM:
When viewing the long description for an object, only the first 65,535 characters are viewable in Strategy Desktop 8.x. When entering the long description, no error, warning, or information is present stating that only the first 65,535 characters will be viewable. Text greater than 65,535 is allowed by the GUI and can be viewed from start to finish when entering the text. A check of the metadata will show that the text was saved correctly and in full, as shown below:
In the image above, text greater than 65,535 has been entered into the GUI text box. The text "this text will be gone!!!!" will not be shown the next time the properties are viewed (although it will be saved in the metadata) as shown below:
After clicking OK to save the long description, only the first 65,535 are viewable.
NOTE: If OK is clicked again, exactly what appears in the long description field (the 65,535 viewable characters) will be saved.
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Developer 10.x.
ACTION:
This issue was reviewed by our Technology team for feasibility and will not be scoped for a code fix in any upcoming Strategy release.
