SYMPTOM:
An Administrator is trying to do a Project Merge between two projects and receives the following error messages:
Since the Project Merge failed, looking at the GUIDs for the 'Administrator' profile folder in the source and in the destination reveals that the IDs do not match, as shown below:
Project_A_Test = BE4453FC49F795C0232DC8851ADFD8F0
Administrator Profile Folder = 1F29AF34441CBDF43AB83E8AF8D561AA
Project_A_Prod = 7DDDB03344B4D7F0770634B8C9BE3C3E
Administrator Profile Folder = 880E46CE31D9D2E20CD600800B3B296A
The following error has occurred and is not recoverable. Once this message box is closed, Project Merge Wizard will close. An object with name `Administrator` and type `Folder` already exists in the destination folder.
CAUSE:
The folder GUIDs are different. They have the same name but different GUIDs. The problem is that if there are folders in the source and destination projects with the same name but different GUIDs, then the Project Merge will fail.
ACTION:
Application development should always conform to the methodologies expressed in the' System Administrator Guide -- Managing your Applications' section, where Strategy objects are created in a source project and migrated in a linear fashion from development to the final production environment.
