This article describes error 'Error(s) occurred while loading report: DSSSQLEngine: converting Report : Unknown error. (Unknown message 0)'when drilling on an attribute element in MicroStrategy Desktop 9.4.1 - Developer 10.x

SYMPTOM:
The following error occurs when drilling on a attribute element in a report in Strategy Desktop 9.4.1 - Developer 10.x:

Error(s) occurred while loading report: DSSSQLEngine: converting Report : Unknown error. (Unknown message 0). No SQL is generated.
Drilling on the attribute header drills normally and returns correct results. Creating a new attribute from scratch also drills normally and returns correct results when drilling.

CAUSE:
The column alias for one of the attributes has an incorrect data type. When drilling on an attribute element, the SQL Engine will create a filter to define the where clause. Since the date type is incorrect, the SQL Engine will not be able to define the filter and the report will error out.

ACTION:
Modify the attribute ID column alias to the correct data type and update the schema. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open up the Attribute Editor.
  2. Select the attribute ID and click the Modify button.
  3. Click on the Column Alias tab.
  4. Click the Modify button.
  5. Select the correct column alias with the correct data type and click OK.
  6. Save and close the attribute.
  7. Update the schema.
