DESCRIPTION:
Size (SZ)
The Size (SZ) counter for the Process category in the Strategy Diagnostics and Performance logging tool in Unix is the virtual size of the process' memory space. Not all of this address space is resident and hence not all of this space occupies real memory. The virtual size is always greater or equal to the resident set size.
Resident Set Size (RSS)
The RSS is the amount of real memory allocated to the process. Note that part of this can be shared with other processes and can be and accounted for more than once.
NOTE: Counters on Unix DO NOT map directly to the counters on Windows on account of the different kinds of memory management strategies used.
