KB15293: '[Service ID [xxxx] Execution ID [xxxx] Segment ID [xxxx] Information Source[xxxx] reported failed 9057:due to connection error]' error occurs in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 9.x

SYMPTOM:
Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x services are cancelled and several entries are generated in the DE Log file, such as the one shown below:

CAUSE:
This is not a defect. This issue occurs when the name resolution does not work properly, and as a result, the Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x name cannot be resolved during run-time.
 
ACTION:
Carry out the following steps to resolve this issue:
 

1. Locate the HOSTS file of the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x machine located under C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc.
2. Create a backup copy.
3. Open the HOSTS file with a basic text editor such as Notepad.
4. Include a mapping between the Strategy Intelligence Server's Machine Name and its IP address and save the file.
5. Define the Information Source using the Strategy Intelligence Server's machine name only.
6. Reboot the Strategy Narrowcast Server 9.x machine.
