Follow the steps below to align a dual Y-axis when there are metrics with both positive and negative values in MicroStrategy Desktop 8.x.

Follow the steps below to align a dual Y-axis when there are metrics with both positive and negative values in Strategy Desktop 8.x:

  • The diagram below shows the 'Revenue Contribution by Corporation' report from the Strategy BI Developer Kit > Financial Reporting Analysis Module > Reports > Revenues and Forcast displayed using the Vertical Bar > Dual Axis Clustered style from the Gallery menu:

  • To align the two Y-axes so that both start at zero, go to Grids and Scales under the Graph menu, as shown below:

  • From the tab on the left side of the window, first select which Y-axis that is to be adjusted by choosing either Y1 Axis or Y2 Axis and then choose Scale from the tab on top.
  • Next check both the 'Use Manual Setting for Maximum Value' and 'Use Manual Setting for Minimum Value' and adjust the values to fit those displayed in the Y2 Axis. In this case, the maximum is 70,000,000 and minimum is -10,000,000, as show below:
