It is necessary for users to activate Strategy server installations within 30 days after installation. Server activation is performed in Strategy License Manager, which may be accessed from the Start menu in Windows environments. This will open a graphical interface functionality that will allow administrators to activate Strategy Intelligence Server.
Alternatively, the Strategy License Manager tool may be run in console (text only) mode as well and Strategy Intelligence Server may be activated through the command line as a utility from Strategy License Manager.
In order to run the Strategy License Manager in console mode, the following command should be executed from command line:
java -jar MALicMgr.jar -console
This command should be executed from the location where the MALicMgr.jar file is installed. By default, it is installed in Program Files\Common Files\Strategy.
The following console transcript illustrates how a Strategy Intelligence Server installation may be activated using console mode. Some portions are omitted for the sake of concision. User input is highlighted in red.
Two stages of activation are needed: requesting an activation code followed by applying the code to the machine. The first portion of the transcript illustrates requesting the activation code.
