In Strategy Administrator - Command Manager an administrator can move reports from one folder to another and can even re-name these reports when moving them. This technical note explains how this can be accomplished using Strategy Administrator - Command Manager .
The following Alter_Report_Outline found under Report Outlines is used to in order to achieve this functionality:
ALTER REPORT "<report_name>" IN FOLDER "<location_path>" FOR PROJECT "<project_name>";
In this script, 'report_name' and 'location_path' correspond to the name and location of the source report that needs to be moved. The administrator can name the report appropriately by replacing the 'new_report_name' field and can enter the new location of this report by replacing the 'new_location_path' field in the above script. The administrator can also optionally enter a new description and long description for this moved report. The 'project_name' field should be replaced with the name of the project this corresponds to.
EXAMPLE:
ALTER REPORT 'Profit Forecast' IN FOLDER '\Public Objects\Reports\Financial Reports' NAME "Copy of Profit Forecast" DESCRIPTION "This report contains the profit forecast for the year 2004" FOLDER '\Public Objects\Reports\Product Sales Reports' FOR PROJECT 'Strategy Tutorial';
This script moves the report 'Profit Forecast' from the Financial Reports folder under Public Objects\Reports to the Product Sales Reports folder and the report is also re-named to 'Copy of Profit Forecast'. Also, a description has been added to the report as shown above.
When logging into Strategy Developer (formerly Desktop), it can be seen that Profit Forecast no longer can be seen under the Financial Reports folder. Instead, there is a report called 'Copy of Profit Forecast' and it can be found under the Product Sales Reports folder. Thus, the report has been moved to another folder within the same project.
