KB15863: Using the text option in a threshold in Microstrategy Developer 9.x/10.x does not apply in graphs

SYMPTOM:Users may want to replace data with text within thresholds. This option works correctly in grid view, however it does not apply when using graph view in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and newer.

 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:Follow the steps below to reproduce the issue in the Microstrategy Tutorial project:

 

1. Create a report with Subcategory and Revenue.
2. Add two thresholds:
   • Revenue less than 1000000 - formatting: change color to green
   • Revenue greater than 1000000 - formatting: change color to red and replace text: > 1 mil.

    

3. When executing the report, the changes are correctly displayed in grid view, as illustrated below:
   

CAUSE:This is working as designed. With the current design, it is not possible to replace with text option in a threshold,  on a graph display. Only background colors can be modified as shown in the above screenshot.

 

ACTION:There is no action that needs to be taken as this is working as designed. An enhancement request has been logged for graphs to be able to display text thresholds. Contact MicroStrategy Technical Support for an update on this request.
