KB15891: 'The JRE bundled with this launcher is not binary compatible with host OS.Arch or it is corrupt’ error occurs when attempting to install MicroStrategy Universal 9.x and newer on a Unix/Linux Operating System.

This KB addresses an issue when attempting to install MicroStrategy on a UNIX/Linux environment.

SYMPTOM:
The following error message is encountered when attempting to install Strategy Universal 9.x and newer on a Unix/Linux operating system:

The JRE bundled with this launcher is not binary compatible with host OS/Arch or it is corrupt. Testing bundled JRE failed.

CAUSE:
A possible reason for the error is that the tar.gz file was decompressed in Windows prior to uploading to the machine, using software such as Winzip. For documentation regarding the other reasons users may see this error, refer to the additional Strategy Knowledge Base technical notes mentioned below.

ACTION:
The installer is bundled as a tar.gz file file, zipped for facilitating downloads. For example, the installer for Strategy 9.4.1 is available on the Strategy Download site as "p02190017.zip". After downloading and unzipping the file (using software such as Winzip) upload the resulting file, for example named "MSTR_941_GA_AIX.tar.gz," using binary-mode FTP, to an AIX machine. Then use AIX utilities such as gunzip and tar to decompress the binary install files.

Refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base article for alternative solutions for the same error message:
