KB15967: How to display element list prompt values in graph titles in MicroStrategy

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article notes how to put element list answers in the header to a graph

In Strategy, it's possible to display element list prompt values in graph titles. In order to accomplish this, the user must perform the following steps. This example uses the Strategy Tutorial project for illustration purposes.

  • Create a new report in Strategy.
  • Add an attribute (e.g. the 'Brand' attribute) and a simple metric (e.g. the 'Revenue' metric) to the report, as shown below:

  • Add an attribute qualification filter that prompts on the elements of the attribute(s) that is (are) present in the report's definition template, as shown below:

  • Run the report in Graph view and resolve the prompt, as shown below:

  • After resolving the prompt and selecting the type of graph, right click on the graph title and select 'Titles…' as shown below:

  • When the 'Titles…' window opens, make sure the 'Title:' checkbox is checked.
  • Use the parameter {&PROMPTDETAILS} to enter as its value, as shown below:

  • Click on 'Apply' and 'Ok'; the answer(s) selected during the prompt resolution appear(s) as the title of the graph, as shown below:
