KB16093: When duplicating a project in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x, are project level governing settings carried over?

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

When duplicating a project using 2-tier environments, no project level governing settings are carried over. The reason for this is that this information is stored along with the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server definition. When a project is duplicated into a 2-tier project source, then it cannot reference any server definition during duplication.

When duplicating a project using 2-tier environments, no project level governing settings are carried over. The reason for this is that this information is stored along with the Strategy Intelligence Server definition. When a project is duplicated into a 2-tier project source, then it cannot reference any server definition during duplication. Therefore, all of the project level governing settings must be re-entered manually, as shown below:

When a project is duplicated in 3 tier, the server definition is duplicated as well.  This means that project level governing settings are preserved when duplicating in 3-tier environments.
