KB16184: When running a service, administrators receive error 'Failed to Load Service Definition' in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server Administrator

When attempting to run a service in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server by right-clicking and selecting Run Immediately, the following error message appears: "Failed to load service definition."

SYMPTOM:
When attempting to run a service in Strategy Narrowcast Server by right-clicking and selecting Run Immediately, the following error message appears:


Failed to load service definition

The error in the Event Viewer displays as follows:


"Unable to start a DCOM Server: {1E171321-E232-4D54-9661-9D67F5F66777}. The error:
'C:\Program Files\MicroStrategy\Narrowcast Server\Delivery Engine\ServiceLoader.exe -Embedding is not a valid Win32 application.'
Happened while starting this command: C:\Program Files\MicroStrategy\Narrowcast Server\Delivery Engine\ServiceLoader.exe -Embedding"

CAUSE:
A file or folder named 'Narrowcast', 'Delivery', or 'Program' exists in the same folder as the 'Narrowcast Server', 'Delivery Engine', or 'Program Files' directories on the machine containing the Strategy installation, as shown below:

Because it exists within the Strategy installation path, this object interrupts any reference to ServiceLoader.exe.

ACTION:
Rename or remove the file that exists in the same folder as the 'Narrowcast Server', 'Delivery Engine', or 'Program Files' directories on the machine containing the Strategy installation.
