Setting User Privileges in MicroStrategy Developer

To set privileges for users in Strategy Developer, following the steps below:

  • Expand the Administration icon under the Project Source in the Strategy Developer Folder List.
  • Expand 'User Manager'.
  • If setting privileges for a user, expand the group where the user is located.
  • Right-click on the user/group to set privileges for and select 'Edit', as shown below:

  • Click on the 'Project Access' tab, as shown below:

  • Expand the category where the privilege is in (In the example above, 'Administration' was expanded):

    • Choose the specific privileges desired for all projects by checking the box under the group/user level.
    • To view the privileges for a specific project, look under that project's column for check marks or X's, as illustrated below. This does not include inherited access from other groups this user/group is in.
    • Users may select all privileges for a specific type of user by checking the box next to that type of user. In the example shown above, web reporter was selected.
  • Click on 'OK'.

Steps For Workstation:
    1. Go to Users & Groups Tab under Administration.
    2. Under User groups section, right on the user group and select edit.
    3. Go to the Project Access and Roles tab and rest of the steps are similar to what described for Developer            above.
NOTE: The privileges assigned to a group of users are inherited by all the users belonging to that group. Users will have all their privileges in addition to the ones they inherited.
