'Failed to load control 'msiReport' from m3report.ocx' error occurs when trying to edit reports in Microstrategy Developer

SYMPTOM:
When trying to edit reports in Strategy Developer , users receive the following error:
Failed to load control 'msiReport' from m3report.ocx. Your version may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.
This error may occur after a version upgrade of Strategy Developer.

CAUSE:
Each time a report is loaded in Strategy Developer, the m3report.ocx file, which is implemented as a DLL file (misreport.DLL), is loaded into memory. When the incorrect version of this DLL is installed or registered or if the DLL gets deleted, the error can appear.

ACTION:
Uninstalling and re-installing Strategy Developer should ensure that no older files are left on the computer. In some cases, it might be necessary to also delete the 'Program Files\Strategy' and 'Program Files\Common Files\Strategy' folders after un-installation. This requires that all Strategy products on the computer be re-installed.
