How to list all the installed applications along with their status via the WebSphere WSAdmin utility

When creating scripts via wsadmin that involve installed applications, it is sometimes needed to know the available applications installed and what their statuses (e.g. running) are. The following wsadmin script (jacl) prints a list of all the applications installed along with information of their status.

For more information on WSAdmin, refer to the following IBM WebSphere v6r0 document:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r0/topic/com.ibm.websphere.express.doc/info/exp/ae/txml_scriptingep.html

JACL script for IBM WebSphere WSAdmin

### Print each application and say if it is running or not.

foreach appName $applications {
set obj
### If Object has info, it's running. If it is empty, it is not running.
if { > 0} {
puts " $appName \"
} else {
puts " $appName is not running"
}
}
