SYMPTOM:
After changing the password of the Windows user account that starts the Strategy Narrowcast Server Distribution Manager and Execution Engine services, the Strategy Narrowcast Server system cannot be started, and the following error is received:
Sample Code/Error
An unexpected error was encountered while attempting to start the Distribution Manager.
Possible causes are 1)the target machine is unreachable, 2)you do not have enough permissions on the target machine to access the Distributon Manager Proxy, 3)the Strategy Logging Client is not running on the target machine, or 4) the password of the Distribution Manager service or the Distribution Manager Proxy identity account is incorrect or expired.
CAUSE:
Since the Windows account password for the user that executes the Strategy Narrowcast Server Windows services has been changed, the passwords stored in each Windows service need to be updated.
ACTION:
Update the password for the Windows NT user account that executes the Strategy Narrowcast Server services in the services' properties under the Log on tab for the Strategy Distribution Manager and the Strategy Execution Engine services, as shown below::
