KB16814: Do Report Services documents that contain datasets which are all cached use a warehouse connection in MicroStrategy Secure Enterprise 9.x - 10.x?

This document answers a common question that new MicroStrategy users can have when dealing with Job execution and Caching

In Strategy Secure Enterprise Platform, Administrators need to define the Number of Connections by priority at the Database Instance level, which will govern the number of Warehouse connections at a time, based on priority, as shown below:

Suppose there is a Report Services document that contains three datasets and all three datasets are cached. Therefore, when a user goes and requests the Report Services document, will a warehouse connection be taken for the Report Services document to be processed? The answer is NO. If all of the datasets are cached, then there will be no connections used, and the Administrator will not see any new connection appear on Database Connection Monitor.
