KB17124: ‘Only the Administrator or the owner can delete the project’ warning message is displayed when a MicroStrategy User member of the System Administrators Group tries to delete a project in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x and 10.x

SYMPTOM:
A Strategy User member of the System Administrators Group receives the following warning message when trying to delete a project in Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x:
 

 
'Only the Administrator or the owner can delete the project'
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow the steps below to reproduce the issue in the Strategy Tutorial project:
 

• Log in as the Administrator and create a new user under \User Manager\System Monitors\System Administrators. Notice that the System Administrator Group has all the Administration privileges granted (including Bypass all object security access checks), as shown below:
  

• Disconnect form the project source, and connect again using the Strategy User login created in step 1.
• Select a project and try to delete the project. The warning message will be displayed.

CAUSE:
This is working as designed. For security reasons the only Strategy Users able to delete a project are the 'Administrator' user and the owner of the project (the Strategy User used to create the project.)
 
ACTION:
Use the 'Administrator' Strategy User to delete the project.
