KB17147: 'Maximum Number of Expressions in a List is 1000' error message is returned by Oracle when accessing a user’s My Subscriptions page in MicroStrategy Web

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:
When a user accesses the My Subscriptions page in Strategy Web, no subscriptions are displayed and the user gets the following Oracle error message:

ORA-01795: maximum number of expressions in a list is 1000
CAUSE:
This specific user has more than 1000 subscriptions registered. In this case, a query will be sent to the Strategy Narrowcast repository including more than 1000 elements in the 'IN' clause. Oracle only allows 1000 elements in an IN clause.

ACTION:
There is no action since this is a limit hard-coded in Oracle.

WORKAROUND:
In order to prevent this error message from showing and to display the available web subscriptions for the user, edit the appropriate Web Delivery service in Strategy Narrowcast Administrator and remove some of the subscriptions for that specific user until the available subscriptions for that user does not exceed the 1000 elements limit for Oracle.
