KB17485: 'Cursor is restricted to FETCH NEXT operations' error occurs in the DELog file when executing a MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server 8.x service against a Sybase database

SYMPTOM:
When executing a Strategy Narrowcast Server 8.x service against a Sybase database, it fails recording the following message in the DELog file:
CAUSE:
This error comes directly from the ODBC driver indicating that an illegal FETCH operation has been detected for a cursor in the database.
If the prefetching option for a Sybase database is set to 'ALWAYS', then prefetching is done even for sensitive cursor types. Great care must be taken when using this setting. Using prefetching on a cursor using a proxy table could cause the error "Cursor is restricted to FETCH NEXT operations" to occur when the application attempts to re-fetch prefetched rows.
ACTION:
This issue can be resolved by turning the Prefetching option 'Off' at the database level.
