KB17729: What is the meaning of the word ’Bypass’ that appears in the bottom right corner of the MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x window after the login ID?

What is the meaning of the word ’Bypass’ that appears in the bottom right corner of the MicroStrategy Developer window after the login ID?

The word 'Bypass' (French - 'Contournement', Spanish - 'Omitir') indicates that users have the 'Bypass all object security access checks' privilege. This privilege can be set in the User Editor under Privileges > Strategy Administrator. After removing this privilege and logging back in, the word no longer appears. The following image is an example:

When users are assigned this privilege, they automatically bypass all the object access controls, which allows full control permissions for all the objects (reports, filters, folders, etc). It does not grant power user status.

NOTE: For more details on the 'Bypass' privilege, refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note:

KB3963 (KB5300-007-0028): Although users are granted the ’Bypass all object security access checks’ privilege, an error message indicating that users do not have the proper privileges appears
