KB17985: Is it possible to set the Isolation Level at DSN level in SQL Server Wire Protocol driver for UNIX environments?

Is it possible to set the Isolation Level at DSN level in SQL Server Wire Protocol driver for UNIX environments?

The SQL Server Wire Protocol driver does not include a DSN (or connection string) parameter for the isolation level, (corresponding to the DB2 parameter that supports setting the isolation level for the lifetime of a connection to the database).

According to SQL Server documentation, the isolation level is set using a Transact-SQL statement:

SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL
{ READ COMMITTED
READ UNCOMMITTED
REPEATABLE READ
SERIALIZABLE
}
Per SQL Server documentation, once set, the isolation level remains in effect for the duration of the database connection. So it should be sufficient to set one of the report pre-statement VLDB properties to read "SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL x" where x is one of the four options shown above.

Setting the Isolation level in the DSN is not possible as driver parameters are based on the capabilities of the database. If the database does not support setting the isolation level as a parameter at connection time, then it can not be done in the DSN. The VLDB property is the only way.
