This technical note lists the steps to associate a template to a drill map to be able to 'Drill to template' in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x - 10.x with the Drill Map Editor
A report allows a user to drill to different levels as defined in the Drill Map Editor associated with it in Strategy Developer, as shown below:
A template can also be drilled to from a report, and the steps to do so are as follows:
Right click in the appropriate folder in Strategy Developer and select New > Drill Map, as shown below:
In the Drill Map Editor that opens, click on the Template button as shown below. This will open a dialog box which will allow selection of the template.
Select the desired template as shown below:
Now click on the 'Associate with…' button to select and link the report to drill from, as shown below:
Ensure that the template and report objects to drill to the template to are checked, as shown below:
The Drill Map Editor now has the report associated with it from which it is desired to link to a particular template, as shown below:
Save and close the Drill Map Editor. When the user now chooses to drill from the report, the option to drill to the associated template(s) is now available, as shown below:
